After Licensed Secretary (LS) application has been approved you shall be scheduled for a written test and interview session to assess your level of knowledge and experience regarding duties and responsibilities as a company secretary under the Companies Act 2016.
The written test and interview will be conducted at SSM Main Office in Kuala Lumpur or at the SSM State Offices in Penang, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak and other places as decided by SSM.
Every license granted shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the issuance or renewal date unless suspended or revoked in advance by the Companies Commission of Malaysia or upon cessation as a company secretary.
The application will be processed within four (4) working days subject to all the requirements are fulfilled and the application is completed.

If the applicant failed to reply the query within stipulated time, the application will not be considered for approval.

The purpose of CPE is to ensure licensed company secretary attain a high level of skills and competency in discharging their duties and responsibilities. The requirement to accumulate CPE points is one of the conditions to renew license.

2. Enhancing the standard of professionalism and corporate governance amongst the company secretaries.
3. Assisting the company secretaries in keeping abreast with the latest development of the Companies Act 2016.
4. Improve the company secretary's ability to use technical knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the corporate community.

1. Courses/seminars that are related to the secretarial profession such as Company Secretarial Practice, Corporate Affairs, Company Law, Accountancy, Finance, Management of Company or other courses that are relevant to the work of company secretaries.
2. It is mandatory for licensed company secretary to attend at least one (1) 'Company Secretary Training Programmme (CSTP) Essential 1.0' organized by COMTRAC for the first renewal after license is issued which entitles participants to a 24 CPE points (40%).
All licensed company secretaries are required to accumulate 60 CPE points within three (3) years from the issuance of license. The composition of 60 CPE points are made up as follows:
1. Minimum of 40% or 24 CPE points from attending courses organized by COMTRAC or co-organized by COMTRAC with external parties; and
2. Maximum of 60% or 36 CPE points from attending courses organized by a prescribed bodies or other organizations.
